Peter Santos is president and chief executive officer of Audience and is responsible for the company's strategic direction and execution. Santos joined Audience in 2004 and has directed the company's market focus, product development and growth, from early development stage to its current position of market leadership in mobile voice processing. With more than 20 years of experience directing business, product and engineering strategy, he was previously vice president of marketing and business development at Barcelona Design, an analog semiconductor technology company. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing at DSL systems provider, Voyan Technology, and served as director of services marketing at Cadence Design Systems. Mr. Santos also spent six years at LSI Corp., an ASIC solutions company, where he led worldwide ASIC product marketing, and four years in semiconductor device engineering at Raytheon. Santos holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Colby College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina.
Lloyd Watts PhD Founder & Chief Scientist
Dr. Lloyd Watts is the founder and chief scientist of Audience and is responsible for leading the company's overall technology strategy and vision, including the advancement of voice systems based on reverse-engineering the human auditory pathway. Prior to starting Audience, Watts was principal researcher at Paul Allen's Interval Research Corporation, where he collaborated with leading auditory neuroscientists on his vision of a machine that could hear as people do. Before that, he developed integrated circuits and software for Microtel Pacific Research, Synaptics and Arithmos. He also invented a low-delay digital speech coding algorithm that was sold to Cisco in 1999. Watts is the author of six issued and four pending patents. He holds a doctorate from the California Institute of Technology, a master's degree from Simon Fraser University, and a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from Queen's University.
Kevin Palatnik Chief Financial Officer
Kevin Palatnik is chief financial officer at Audience, responsible for managing the company's finance organization worldwide, including all planning, audit and controller functions, and information technology. Before joining Audience, Mr. Palatnik spent over 13 years at Cadence Design Systems, Inc., where he most recently served as chief financial officer, leading the global finance team as well as investor relations, information technology and workplace resources. Earlier he held a number of senior financial and operational positions, including corporate controller and corporate vice president, finance and operations. Prior to joining Cadence, Palatnik was chief financial officer for a private application service provider, and had held a series of senior financial roles at IBM. Palatnik holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and operations research, as well as a master's degree in business administration from Syracuse University.
Andy Keane Vice President of Marketing
Andy Keane is vice president of marketing and is responsible for the product management, product marketing, applications engineering and marketing communications functions. His group drives the product definition and go-to-market strategy for the company's range of earSmart™ Advanced Voice processors, including driving brand awareness and demand generation. Prior to joining Audience, he was vice president and general manager of the Tesla GPU Computing division at NVIDIA, which he built from the ground up into a business with over $100 million in annual revenue. Before that, he held executive positions at several semiconductor companies, including 3dfx Interactive, Quantum Effect Devices, Inc., AGEIA Technologies, Inc., and Cooligy, Inc. Earlier in his career, he held engineering and marketing roles at Intel Corporation, Silicon Graphics, Inc., Signetics Corporation and Xilinx, Inc. Keane has an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas Business School and a degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer.
Eitan Medina Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Medina joins Audience from Cavium Networks where he was vice president of engineering. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at Marvell Technology Group, most recently as vice president of cellular engineering, where he led the design and development of the company's 2G/3G/4G UMTS modem and communications processors. In this role, he worked hand in hand with the world's leading smartphone manufacturers, and helped achieve revenue growth for the product line that enabled it to become the company's primary mobile business. Prior to Marvell, he held executive and senior level positions at Galileo Technology, acquired by Marvell Semiconductor, and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Andy Micallef Vice President of Operations
Andy Micallef is vice president of operations and oversees all manufacturing, procurement and supply chain management, quality control, and product engineering. Before joining the company, he served as executive vice president of worldwide manufacturing and operations at LSI Corporation, assuming this role through LSI's acquisition of Agere Systems in 2007. At Agere he was also responsible for global operations. Prior to that, Micallef held several operations and finance positions at Fujitsu-ICL Systems, and also IBM. He began his career at General Dynamics, where he worked as a mechanical and fluid systems design engineer. Micallef earned a master's degree in business administration and also a master's degree in engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Robert Schoenfield Vice President of Business Development
Bob Schoenfield is vice president of business development and is responsible for managing engagement with mobile operators worldwide, overseeing partnerships with information service providers, and developing new market and strategic growth opportunities. Prior to joining Audience, he was vice president of sales for North America at Polaris Wireless, where he was responsible for revenue generation and managing customer relationships with wireless carriers, infrastructure providers, and other strategic partners. Before that, he was senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development at Aeris Communications and earlier, led the company's expansion into new markets as president of South America. He also held various executive roles managing sales and business development for Tetra Tech, Inc., and Nextel Communications. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from San Francisco State University.
Tom Spade Vice President of Sales
Tom Spade is vice president of sales, responsible for all customer operations and relationship management, and executing sales and distribution strategies to meet the unique market requirements of OEM partners around the world. A seasoned sales leader, Spade was previously vice president of global sales for portable power, at Boston-Power. Prior to that, he served as vice president of global sales at Validity. He also spent nine years at Synaptics, most recently as vice president of worldwide sales, supporting efforts to grow the company from $25MM in revenues, prior to its initial public offering (IPO), to over $300MM. Earlier in his career, he held senior sales positions at Alliance Semiconductor, Anthem Electronics, Arrow Electronics, and also Anderson Consulting. Spade holds a bachelor's degree in economics and management from Albion College.
Luan Wilfong Vice President of Human Resources
Luan Wilfong is vice president of human resources (HR) and has responsibility for designing and implementing HR strategies and programs that support the growth and development of the Audience team. She oversees the organization's recruitment function, as well as staff development, training and employee programs. Prior to joining Audience, Ms. Wilfong managed her own full-service HR consulting firm and, since 2008, collaborated with Audience to help the company lay the foundation of its HR organization. During this time, she also enabled numerous organizations across the technology, biotech, venture capital, government and non-profit fields, to grow their employee base and implement key HR functions and processes. Prior to running her own consulting practice, Wilfong was VP of HR at CopperCom, and held senior HR management roles at Gilead Sciences and Sony Electronics. Wilfong holds an economics degree from Santa Clara University and a master's degree in business administration from Golden Gate University.
